In the fall of
1948, a group of twelve men got together in
a meeting and decided that it was time to
organize and establish a Fire Company in
Upper Pottsgrove Township.
Articles of Incorporation were drawn up and
the Company was officially chartered in
1949.
By this time at least twenty men were
interested and we held our meetings in
garages, grocery stores and finally with
permission of the school board, we held our
meetings in the School Buildings.
Our meetings were usually punctuated with a
few "Hot" arguments by well-meaning groups
of individuals, but one by one, our problems
were resolved to the satisfaction of the
majority.
In October, 18 1948 the ladies auxiliary was
organized.
In 1950 we purchased the present fire
company ground from Howard Bealer, plans
were drawn up and argument's made and before
the year was out, we were firmly established
in our new building.
In 1971 a building committee was appointed
that turned out to be a sensible, live wire
group and they spent a lot of time in
meetings and finally after a lot of
arguments pro and con, they presented the
plans to the fire company meeting.
consequently, our new addition to the
building was erected.
In 2004, due to a disagreement between the
township officials and the fire company, we
were shut down for one year; until a group
of determined individuals had it reopened.
In 2005 Upper Pottsgrove Township Fire
Company #1 was reopened with only a few left
from the original Fire Company. The company
has begun with recruiting and has been
growing since.
In 2008 we plan to make our fire company one
of the best....

members that put there sweat and hard work
into this. For our future..... there is a
lot to come.
